Our publishing is one of the ways the system controls content on your site. Item visibility is controlled by the item's Status, and Post and Expiration Dates. The four different statuses that you can assign are
Only items which are in Published or Retired status will be displayed on the site. In general, items must be in Published status to be visible. However, Retired items are available as an archive--available only when a user searches your site. To completely remove an item from the site, it is best to delete the item.
When you create any piece of content, the Status is automatically set to Submitted. Before saving, you can alter this setting if your account has the correct rights assigned to it.
The publishing allows you to give some users the ability to "submit" content to the site, while a handful of Site Administrators still control the final publishing rights.
Site Administrators can use Site Minder to help manage all of the items that are in each status on the site. It provides you with a bird's eye view of which items require your attention.
